Don't buy a plane yet! We offer free introductory flights using our club trainer planes. We use a "Buddy Box" system that links two controllers, so an instructor can take over instantly if you get in trouble. It's 100% safe and free.

Join the AMA
All members must hold a current membership with the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) for insurance purposes.

Required by the FAA for all recreational RC pilots. It takes about 15 minutes, is free, and impossible to fail.

đ¤ Member Commitments
Membership in Macon Aero Modelers is more than just access to a runway. Our dues cover operating costs, but our community runs on participation.
- â Participation: Members are expected to help with field maintenance, work days, fundraising, and meetings when possible.
- â Probation: All new members are subject to a 30-day probationary period.
- â Refunds: If an application is denied by the Board, dues will be fully refunded.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to own a plane to start? âŧ
No! We highly recommend you do NOT buy a plane until you talk to us. We have club trainer planes available for you to try.
Do you fly drones/quadcopters? âŧ
Yes! We welcome fixed-wing, helicopters, and drones. We have a dedicated group of FPV pilots who fly regularly.
Can I just show up at the field? âŧ
Spectators are always welcome! However, to fly, you must be a member or a guest pilot with current AMA insurance you can fly for up to 3 days without joining the club.
