Macon Aero Modelers Safety News April 2, 2007

From the Safety Officer

Greg Doster

Gentlemen,

I would like to request that anyone flying at OTX with a PCM receiver to make sure that Throttle failsafe is enabled and set to reduce throttle to idle in the event of a radio problem or loss of signal path.

Although I am not aware of any PCM problem ever at OTX this will still help ensure another level of safety at our site.

Since this is a very simple setting in your radio it should not be a problem.

Also that any larger gas (petrol) engine planes to be definitely flown with PCM and definitely have throttle failsafe enabled and verified (demonstrated).

This important safety measure does not cost the pilot a thing to put in place so therefore should not be a problem to adhere to.

All other control surface Fail safe positions will be at the pilots discression.

           Thank You,

           Greg Doster,

           Safety Officer
