The 4th of July night Fly was a blast in more ways than one!!

Welcome to the Online Home of

Macon Aero Modelers Club

Academy of Model Aeronautics

District IV Sanction # 3114

From Jim Alvord, Webmaster, Macon Aero Modelers

The evening of the 4th brought out a large turnout at the field for evening and night flying after dark.

A number of the members and their families brought a dish-to-pass and Greg cooked the hot dogs. We all had plenty to eat. Some of the specials of note, homemade marshmallows & SMORES (thanks Kathy), Texas Caviar (thanks Julie), Banana Pudding (thanks Sibbie), Potatoe Salad (thanks Maureen), if I missed anyone else "my Bad" it was all wonderful!

Mike and Bradley totalled out their F4 and Captain Bob Wilson had a severe crash of his beautiful Ultimate Bi-plane. My combat plane is superior at right turn nose-overs into the ground (possible divining tool), and Ken Hayes gave us a great demonstration of the capabilities of the 'Slow Stick X' which several of the club members are building.

Louis shot some great video, especially considering the setting sun caused for some strange light angles. And it's safe to say that a great time was had by all in spite of the calamities and crashes.

Our newest "Instructor", Stan Penland gave us all several demonstrations of why he's deserving of the position. First with his U-Can-Do and then with a foamie that he reconstructed there at the field and flew with the CG over 4 inches behind where it should be, and then he also flew it totally 'Rudderless' and without the verticle tail at all!! It made for a very impressive demonstration, especially all within 6 - 8 feet of the ground continuously.

Here's the next 6 weeks of mowing schedule for OTX in case you need a reminder. The entire schedule is listed under the menu item "OTX Mowing Schedule."
